Time Flies when you're having Fun!!!

Time is absolutely flying by and I hate that I have not been keeping the blog up to date, but I have promised myself and Owen that I will get better, as this is a great way to journal for him since I haven't done a great job of that either. He keeps us busy but we are loving absolutely every moment. So to Bring us up to speed:

Owen is 15 weeks old and is just growing like a weed. At his two month appointment he had his shots, which daddy did not go with us because he just didn't want to see his little man cry so LaLa came along. He did cry but very briefly and was such an angel. At that appointment he weighed12lbs 7oz. I believe and was 24inches long. Now he is over 15lbs and I am not sure how long he is. We go for his four month check up on November 17th.

Since the last post we have been back to the beach again. Owen LOVES the beach he lays in his tent and just plays or snoozes as the ocean lulls him to sleep. We got to visit with some of or friends while down at debordieu, thanks Susan, Sara, Virginia, Haley, Laurel and Caroline, Saturday night was so much fun we need to do that more often, I can't wait for all the boys to play(sara as you know my prediction is that Baby Reed is a boy too) They will certainly all be a handful!!! Our first trip down was over Labor Day and several days after that and this last time was the very end of September thru October 1st.

During the first trip he started to really love his bouncie seat and realized he could make the music start again if he got his arms and legs going hard enough. Now he has it completely down pat and not only has the arms and legs going but he just talks to that little dog, it is so precious.

Let's see what else have we been up to, Owen you love to stroll, good thing because Mama needs to do that as much as possible!! You also are still absolutely loving bathtime, that has always been a favorite, while down at the beach at the end of September you discovered yourself in the mirror, so you like to talk to yourself in the mirror while on the changing table.

You have also found your hands and like to chew on your fingers and fist, at first we thought maybe your wanted to suck your thumb or fingers but you don't really suck its definitely chewing as you like to chew on our fingers whenever you get the opportunity, could you already be getting ready for some teeth?

We also have been to the pumkin patch, that was a lot of fun and we got some great pics and some cute pumpkins! I will have to post the pics.

Everyday you amaze me more and more, Your Daddy and I can not believe how fast you are growing and are just trying to take it all in. You are such a Blessing and we aren't sure what we did without you. We love you to the moon and back!

Better Late than Never!!!

Ok, so I am the slackest person ever when it comes to posting but I am down at the beach and have finally found time to sit down and write.

I plan on posting several short Blogs to catch this up to date rather than one lengthy one.

Zackery "Owen" Atkinson Jr. was born Tuesday, July 8, 2008 at 1:54pm. He weighed 7lbs 6oz and was 19 inches long. I was induced that morning and before they even started the potocin I was 3cm and 70% or so efaced. Once I was 10cm he came and came fast, so fast that Dr. Salley didn't quite make it back to the room. But, in his defense I was so numb from the epidural (Awesome) that from his experience he thought he would have plenty time to go and check on another patient and come back. I too had no clue that it would be so fast. Owen was ready to make his debut and reveal to us that he was a beautiful baby BOY! 17 minutes and 7 pushes and he was here. I do have to say that Dr. Salley coached me on exactly how to push and what to do and I would not have known what to do had he not been there for that first push...I was so completely numb and had no sensation whatsoever...I thought the nurses, my mom, and Zack were just being nice when they were telling me how good I was doing just to keep my spirits up I was shocked by my delivery experience and hope that it will be that easy with future babies.

I want to thank my wonderful husband and my sweet mom who were by my side the whole time, I couldn't have done it with out yall and I love you soooo much! Also, my nurses Winter and Lisa were the best, and ended up doing a little more than usual. And of course a big thanks again to Dr. Salley he is the best!

And thanks to my daddy, Neal, Mamie and our sisters along with all my grandparents and the rest of our sweet family and friends who were there waiting patiently for Baby Owen's Arrival, we love you all very much!

July 8th is the Date!!!

I know, I know I have been extremely slack with the blog and I plan to be much better about it when "Baby A" arrives, which by the way will be next Tuesday, July 8th if all goes as planned.

I went last Thursday for my 37 week check up and saw Dr. Salley. While there, before he checked me out I asked him that if I went PAST my due date which is July 13, would he induce me on the 14th when he is call and he said that he did not mind doing that since I was already dialated at 36weeks and that I would be past my due date. Little did I know that after he checked me out would he offer the 8th as a possible induction date. I was shocked!

SC OB/GYN is known as a fairly conservative practice which I like a lot so I knew from the start that induction was really not their policy. But after checking me at that appointment he said I was continuing to dialate and thinning out so he gave me the 8th as an option (Note: I had already informed him that I had stalked his calendar to see when he was on call and that I was planning to only give birth on one of those days, and that I felt sure that "baby a" only wanted him to deliver...ha).

So when I left last week I had been scheduled for the induction, keeping in mind that when I came in this week (38 weeks) if he did not think I was progressing as he thought I would we would call it off. Well I went in this morning and I have continued to dialate and I am 80% efaced so he kept me on the books. I of course have gone back and forth on my thoughts about inducing but after thoroughly discussing it with Zack and Dr. Salley I feel good about it and trust him completely and am excited that he will be there to deliver our first baby.

Now having all that said and since there is something scheduled I will probably go into labor prior to the 8th which would not be at all bad but if I had my choice I would love for Dr. Salley to deliver he's the best!!! Plus I really could use these last five days to get all the last minute things done.

The nursery is pretty much done. Just waiting on my glider which should be here anytime and I have to go pick up the rug it came in yesterday!!

We are so excited and just can not believe that our little bundle will be here Tuesday!!!

I am also going to post a prego picture of me that was taken a few weeks back by John Wrightenberry. My mom has joined me in the real estate world which I am just thrilled about and we went to have her picture done and he shot some prego pics as well!! On the work note, mom has gotten her license and has joined me at Coldwell Banker United, Realtors and our partnership is in full swing so if you know anyone buying or selling we would LOVE to help!!

So here's the picture I was 32 weeks. I will have to get Zack to take one more.

Ten Week Countdown!

Well the countdown is on!! In less than 10 weeks Baby A is scheduled to make His or Her debut into our world and we can not wait!! The nursery fabrics have been ordered as well as the Crib. We still have to get the room painted but that won't be a problem I have picked out the color. Ann Thomas, who made my wedding gown is going to make all the bedding and window treatments for Baby A's Nursery which I am sooo thrilled about. It is very neutral, Cream and Mocha and we are going to add Pink for a Girl and Blue for a Boy. It is beautiful can't wait for the finished product.

We went week before last and had a 4D Ultrasound done. It was so neat and I am going to try and post a few images. To get a good image you must have fluid infront of what you are trying to capture. On top of Baby A having his or her head all the way up (I guess to what would be the wall of the Placenta), leaving no room for fluid he or she was lying with his/her arm and hand up infront of his/her face. But after me getting up and moving around a bit and drinking a fully ledded Real CocaCola she/he decide to move around a bit so we could get some pics. Baby A loves to sleep just like Mama!!

Everyone has been asking me what I think the "brand" of the baby is...boy or girl. I don't know that I really am feeling strongly one way or another, I find myself referring to the baby as "she" a lot but I think that has a lot to do with the fact that I am one of three girls in my immediate family and #2 or 10 grandchildren on my mom's side 9 of which are girls. Having that said, a boy may be due for my side of the family. Zack is #1 of two children and he has a sister so things are pretty equal on his side of the Family. Who knows, the father determines the sex of the baby so we will just have to wait and see and will be thrilled with whatever God Blesses us with!

I told Zack last night that we still have not taken any pics of my prego belly so we will definitely do that this week and post it! I go for my 30 week appointment tomorrow and from here on out I go to the doctor every 2 weeks instead of every 4 so I will update tomorrow with how we are progressing!

Until next time...Here are the 4D pictures for you to look at our precious baby. The first one shows the hand infront of the face... This next one shows a clearer shot of the face...

Profile Pic Zack says Baby A is showing his/her strong biceps

And this last one Baby A looks all cuddled up.

I love you sooo much already Baby Atkinson and can't wait to meet you!!

Its been a while!

Well its been a while, but I am back. We are almost 27weeks along and everything is going very well! I have finally started "thinking" nursery, about time since Baby Atkinson will be here in 13weeks (hopefully not any longer). We haven't actually painted yet but the first piece of furniture has been purchased! Yea!! I can not believe how fast time is flying by!

Since the last post we had the ultrasound done and I will try and get those pics posted. That really made it so real and we had a few 3D images done and it is absolutely amazing the details and development at only 20weeks! At that time Baby Atkinson was weighing approximately 12oz. We have both definitely grown since then and Baby Atkinson is letting his/her presence be known and has been very active. Especially in the morning and at bedtime. It is amazing how they respond to touch. I can put my hand on one side of my belly and she/he will come to that side and then I can pat the other side and I will get a jab or kick over there. It is such an amzing feeling and WE can not wait until July 13th.

Speaking of the belly we have not taken any belly shots yet and I will try to get one posted soon. We are definitely showing these days. I really popped for the first time around 22weeks (although I had grown out of my regular clothes a good 5-6weeks prior) and now I am gradually getting bigger!

I will try to get some pics posted soon!
Until next time...

Adventures in Pregnancy!!!

Ok, so I feel like I am completely losing it at moments. I had always heard from friends who have been pregnant before me that you can become very forgetful during pregnancy and boy am I one to vouch for that now!! I really hope that this craziness is related to pregnancy otherwise I am in trouble!!! Zack can tell you many a stories of what I have done (or forgotten to do) over the past few weeks.
For example, a couple of weeks ago on a Sunday evening I was in Columbia and he was home in Camden, I called to let him know I was headed home and asked if he would like me to pick something up for dinner on the way (since the cupboards were bare and there are very limited choices in Camden on a Sunday night) he said "sure, I am really in the mood for BBQ" (I had put that thought in his head earlier in the day when I thought my mom was going to bring us BBQ home from the mountains but wasn't able to) So, I said great I will stop at Maurices on Clemson Road and pick something up. Well it wasn't until I was sitting at the main light in downtown Camden that I realized I had completely forgotten dinner. You should have seen his face when I got home with no BBQ...so sad. I am sorry babe, I promise I will make it up to you!!!
My most recent incident was yesterday when I returned a loaner car and forgot the bag of Dry Cleaning (which I was supposed to drop off in Camden) and some other hanging clothes in the car. Didn't realize I had done this until this morning....HELLO!!!
The sad thing about this is that from what I have heard, once the baby gets here it doesn't get much better!!! Craziness.
On another note, I will not forget to Congratulate our dear friends Chuck & Elizabeth Webb, they found out yesterday that #2 is a BOY!! Charles Joseph Webb, Jr. "Charlie" will be joining his big sister in June!! We love y'all and can not wait to meet little Charlie. (And his name is strictly Charlie, not CJ or Charlie Joe!!! elizabeth asked that I make this plug!!)
Until next time...

Hello There

Well we're almost twenty weeks along (almost halfway) and I thought I would give this blog thing a whirl. I have so enjoyed keeping up with my friends and their "new additions" through their blogs that I thought it would be great to go ahead and start one of my own so that when Baby Atkinson arrives I will know what I am doing and can post updates easily. I am probably going to need some assistance from the Blogmaster and my friend Caroline!!!

Just to catch up...
Zack and I are expecting our first baby July 13, 2008 and we are just thrilled and cannot wait for he or she to arrive. We go for our 20 week ultrasound next week and we are so excited!! But we are going to let the sex our little bundle of joy be a surprise. So many people are shocked when I tell them that we are going to wait and see because I am such a planner but there are so few surprises left in life and we are going to take this opportunity. Not sure if I will be able to do it again with future babies but this one is going to be a big surprise.

Baby Atkinson will be the first grandchild on both sides and the first great-grandchild for my mom's parents so as you can possibly imagine there is a lot of excitement buzzing around our households!! I look forward to keeping everyone updated as the next 20 weeks progress and beyond!!

Until next time...
